I put a Garmin 201 GPS on my 1 year old Collies harness and recorded peaks of 24.7 knots - just over 28 miles per hour. A fully grown dog 18 months + and slightly larger would be capable of 30 - 35mph in short bursts. Not a huge speed but collies are by far the most agile dogs - there are few that can achieve the same turn rate. johnwelch@ihug.co.nz
hi there, we have a border collie at home we live in a a town house with not a lot of land. a border collie doesn't need land, all it wants in a loving family. our dog goes for run on a daily basis and loves it. so, a border collie loves to run and loves lots of land but it doesn't necessarily need it. hope this helps
