Nuthatch babies typically stay in the nest for about 24 to 32 days after hatching. During this time, they are entirely dependent on their parents for food and care. Once they fledge, the young nuthatches continue to stay near the nest while they learn to fly and forage. They may remain in the vicinity of their parents for a few weeks after leaving the nest.
