Humpback tails (flukes) are measured in widths. From median notch (center) to base of tail is usually about 4-5 feet high depending on age of animal. Flukes of adults also depend on age. We see flukes from 7-10 (calves) to over 20' across. Width of tails are about 1/3 the animals' length.
