How loud do pit bulls bark?

Well, until I started, I didn't realize this question would be so hard to answer. However, here's the deal. Can they? As far as I know, any dog can howl. But, until you've had wolves, you probably arent actually aware of what a howl, is. Wolves are manogomous. That means that they mate, with one mate, for life. When a wolf howls, it is a call to their mate, so I would associate it with lonliness. Dogs, do not mate for life, and when howling, it is usally do to lonliness. They are left alone, outside, tied up, whatever. None of my pits, under my care anyway, have ever been in that position. And, pits aren't usually real noisey, as far as barking. When mine bark, I check it out, because it is usually for a reason. However, they are very vocal, and I think they actually try to imitate my speaking. They are that intelligent, and sometimes seem "frustrated" that they cannot communicate better with me. So, can they howl? Yes. Do they? No. Any howling dog, is howling out of lonliness, or pain, and requires attention. Pits are very independent, and quite frankly, I do not think they are willing to show that weakness, so no, they do not.

Pit bulls can be very loud but they generally don't bark for no reason. Mine sounds like a monster when a stranger comes to the door which is exactly what I want him to do, but when we are playing with him his bark is not extremely loud and you can hear in his "voice" that everything is alright.

Almost all dogs bark, but pit bulls are bred as fighting dogs so they don't bark as much as breeds that are used as guard dogs.
