The average Californian litter is 7 or 8. Since a doe only has 8 teats this is perfect. If your doe has more than 8 they will have to be culled or fostered to another doe that doesn't have a full house. That is one reason why it is advisable to breed 2 or 3 does at the same time. So you have does to foster babies to. They do not have to be the same breed. I had a red Satin doe that raised a little broken mini lop baby. It sure was a funny sight in the midst of those 7 red satin babies.
