In the article about him published in the "Rolling Stones" magazine, they say he is smoking Camel Light. In an article detailing his 48-day jail term (November, 2008), the magazine "Men's Vogue" mentions the brand, but not whether they are Camel Filters or Camel Lights. On every picture of Kiefer with a cigarette box, he's holding a white box with different coloured letters that clearly spell : " Camel ". Commentaries and trivia dated two to three years ago listed his brand of choice as Marlboro, but apparently he has since changed. (This was the PCH trivia answer.)

The term Flip-Top Box was used in advertising for cigarettes. It referred to the box that some brands of cigarettes came in with a lid that flipped back. They supposedly kept the tobcco safer because the box was 'crush proof' and it sealed the cigarettes away from the air unlike an opened softpack.
