How many dogs is too much?

If you don't run a dog sled or have some other work for the dogs, yea that's too many.

Under some conditions, businesses or other needs can be established which justify that many dogs. If they're just pets, it's out of control.

BUT that is only so if you are able to take care of them all and keep their health and happiness good ie, buy treats, get to the vets when needed. and show them all love and attention which all animals crave and need. Quality of life is whats important

a really poor person can not cope with or take care of 5 dogs

but a person with better means can that is whats important, if you cant take care of them them 5 is too many and should probably stick to 2 even 1 at most until you are able to take care of more

but if your dogs are all happy healthy and you are able to get shots and vet treatments when they are necessary then you are fine and obviously love dogs, which is great. BUT i probably wouldn't get any more!

sometimes it is and sometime it isn't because if you get 2 of the same a male and a male then they both can get into arguments as in dog fights.

or if you decide not to intruduce them before you buy the dog the dog at home could easily get territorrial and soon aggressive.if you get a female and a male the female could possibly get possessive of the other one and they (if not spayed or neutered)could soon then have puppies.if you don't get 2 dogs there is a big possibility that you r dog could get lonely byitself and possibly depressed.

so if you decide to get 2 dogs you have to introduce them properly if you get another dog you must introduce them in a30 minute walk that's good for you and the dog to get to know each other.(if the place where you get the dog lets you) take the dog home to spend the night and see how he reacts to its new environment.

In reality, you can have too many dogs if you are unable to provide all the dogs you have with enough time, affection, food, training, space, veterinary care, and mental and physical stimulation/enrichment. If the place you intend to keep them in is in good condition, no amount of dogs is exactly 'too much'. Just make sure you can handle them, they don't fight, they have enough food and are treated correctly.

However, you must keep in mind that having loads of dogs would be a handful and expensive.

If you're looking for an exact answer, I'd say about 5 dogs is enough really.

Personally, I don't think that is too many. Of course, it depends on the amount of time you have, the amount of money you have, the size of your house and/or backyard and the size of the breeds.

If you can handle them, meet their daily needs, give them the attention and care they deserve, have enough time, money and space, sure! It's your life, as long as the dogs are happy and healthy.

When I'm out of college, I'd love to have 5 dogs, I've been thinking about it a lot, but I will only ever get more than one if I can meet all their needs, besides, I'm constantly thinking about the amount of attention they might need.

Another thing I have thought about, is, imagine going on a train, some trains allow dogs, but what if you have 5 dogs? Imagine going to a dog park, you set your 5 dogs off leash, they are all well trained and behaved, but what if they're not? Some dogs are harder to train, even those that are trained, might have fits and some are even escape artists! It might be hard to handle 5 dogs, you may think that handling large dogs is harder, but that's not always the case, small dogs may hide easily and having 5 may mean that they might escape, you can't keep an eye on all of them.

You have to have the time and dedication to train them, especially together, to make sure that they got along and don't get over excited when together, if they do get too playful, they may not listen to you. Commands such as heel, recall, stay, leave it, sit, are your main concerns.
