Do you really think any body would answer that. There are over 10,000 breeds and most breeds have at least 50,000 horses, usally more. So somthing like 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 and a whole lot more zeros and commas.

There is actually only one species of horse thought to be remaining in the world today, although, a distinct species may still exist in Mongolia. These Mongolian horses are remnants of a different species, or perhaps sub-species (especially as mixing of genetics pools with domestic horses may have occurred) of the last known 'wild' horses, from which the modern horse was probably bred...

(Quite similar to the situation with Dingos (the last of the Asian Wolves perhaps) and domestic dogs in Australia)

Please check the definition of a species vs a breed if you thought there were many species of horses. A Pug and a Great Dane are both dogs and the same species, just different breeds, as are Shetland ponies and Shire Horses!

Theoretically, if they can breed and produce fertile young, they are of the ONE species, despite being different breeds!

That's...difficult to answer! The USA has approx. 9-10 million domestic horses, the UK has around one and a half million....Let's just say millions and millions.
