There are three extant (living) subspecies of common raccoon and one extinct subspecies of common raccoon. While the Barbados raccoon has been extinct since 1964, the three extant species (the Bahaman raccoon, the Guadelupe raccoon and the Tres Marias raccoon) are all considered Endangered by the IUCN.
