It depends on the size of the pony really. Any pony under 12 hands can probably live comfortably on one to one in a half acres. Just remember to not let the area get overgrazed. Any thing over 12 hands should have closer to one and a half to two acres, again not allowing the pony to overgraze the area. If you can't allow the pony to graze due to medical issues then any size pony or horse can get by with a 100 foot by30 foot "lot" so long as constant hay is provided. And of course some sort of shelter should be available no matter the areas size.
