There are 198,230,000,000,000,000 in the United States alone, but there has not been an official count for the entire world.
The Jack Russell is a smaller version of a Fox terrrier. A Fox terrier is derived from a wolf. I belive they just kept breeding small-legged Fox terriers until they got the Jack Russell terrier.
There is no way to know unless you can talk to every person in the world, which is impossible.
Two Times A Day.Once A Day.
New answer. The Jack Russell's full bred name is the Jack Russell Terrier. In his book The Intelligence of Dogs, probably the best book on the subject, Stanley Coren describes intelligence tests he uses to find a dog's intelligence and he rates many breeds. His list of 79 breeds shows no terriers until #27 and most of the terriers start to show up on the list between #47 and #79. This means that generally speaking most terrier breeds are in the lower half of the list in intelligence. Jack Russell Terriers, which are noted for their intelligence, were not ranked because they were not recognized by the AKC until 2013. Coren did not include breeds recognized elsewhere but not in North America.
Same as in English. Many words do not have an equivalent, so you use the same words as the origin. For Jack Russell Terrier, that is English (Brittish).
As many as 12. Yes, you read that right. My Jack had 10 in her first and only litter, and 12 is not unheard of for a Jack Russell.

While Jack Russell Terriers are short-haired and also extremely high energy dogs, it's the pet dander that makes the person allergic to the dog (or cat.) There are some success' with Bichon Frize, poodles and a few other breeds. Breeders are introducing poodles with many other breeds now for a few reasons ... intelligence and non-shedding. It's best to ask a vet whether it's worth the expense for you to get a dog at all. Good luck Marcy
The difference bettween a Jack Russell Terrier and a Parson Russell Terrier is the Parson Russell Terrier has Longer legs and therfore is not as stocky as the Jack Russell terrier, but because the Parson Russell Terrier has longer legs it is also a little faster Than the Jack Russell terrier. The Parson is recognised by the Kennel Club, it is a "pedigree dog" with a breed standard. The Jack Russell comes in many shapes and sizes, it is not recognised by the K.C. and has no breed standard. They both can have rough, broken or smooth coats.
They only shake when they are not warm enough.
Because pitbulls are terriers, and all terriers are naturally dog-aggressive. Whether it's a Boston Terrier, or a Jack Russell, or a pit, they almost all have issues with other dogs. Obviously this is a spectrum, where some are more tolerant than others. Terriers tend to be less dog-aggressive as puppies, with many becoming less tolerant as they mature (especially if you don't spay/neuter!).
