From a reputable breeder, you can expect to pay £250-£400 for a Persian kitten. This price is usually for pet only, should you want to breed or show your pet, you can expect to pay considerably more.

You should always make sure your Persian kitten is PKD negative, and if sold as a pedigree, you get the certificate and registration as normal.

Most Persians have an ideal weight somewhere between 8 and 13 pounds, but that's a big range. It depends on the build of the cat--a bigger, longer cat should be heavier than a smaller, more delicate one. Persians are somewhere in the middle, as far as size is concerned.

If you can feel the cat's ribs, but not see them (with a Persian's long fur, you don't want to feel them very distinctly--that is too skinny) he is generally at about the right weight.

If your cat is too skinny, I suggest seeing your vet--there could be a health problem involved. If it's because he's finicky, try smelly wet food.

If your cat is too big, but not extremely big, to increase his health play with him often. If he's extremely big, again, see your vet.

As always, feed a decent sort of food that has a lot of meat and not so much (preferably none) bone meal, by-product meal, or grain.
