The issue is not the initial cost of the surgery, which depending on the breed, and weight of the dog can range greatly, but rather whether the initial surgery will solve the problem or if the procedure will need to be repeated. When you have the surgery most surgeons will tell you this may have to be repeated.

Also, they may need to do some distichia repair or eyelash removal to prevent the lid from scratching the eye... more money.

Also, if the eyelashes continue to rub on the cornea over time you could be facing a corneal rupture or required repair.

We experienced a $3000 surgery plus a second $450 surgery, plus a $450 emergency vet call due to excessive post-operative swellling with our English Bulldog. This of course excludes the meds and drops the dog needed during the whole ordeal and other vet visits.

We were probably a worse case scenario, but depending on the breed and the liklihood of future problems, this can be a serious finanical issue.

My bulldog will be having entropion surgery 11/08/12. The opthamologist has estimated surgery to be 1100.00 (for four lids). Having pre-op labs on 11/5/12 for 135.00 at regular veterinarian. Initial (regular veterinarian exam) was 45.00+ 16.50 for eye drops. Opthamologist exam was 125.00 Total estimate for exams & surgery is 1405.00 not including medications.

Depends on the size of the dog and the extent of the entropiaon.. the worse it is and the bigger the dog the more it will be. A good estimate is about $800.00
