By "naked cat" you must mean the fascinating sphynx. Like any pure-bred animal sphynx are pricey and a kitten can run you well over a thousand dollars. If you are lucky enough to find someone who for some reason can't or won't keep their sphynx or sphynxes, they may sell to you for under a thousand a cat, but expect to pay $500 to $800 and sometimes more for one, even in these circumstances.

Sphynxes are not truly hairless, but covered with thin, short, soft down. Having no fur they need to live in a warm house to be comfortable. And they can have other special needs, as well.

If you love the breed but decide owning could prove too much, you can, as of this writing in November 2014, buy an adorable, carefree, handmade, plush sphynx cat on Etsy for half or less the price of the real thing.
