While they are close to the same size the males usually weigh more than the females. The males on average weigh between 530 to 895 lbs, and the females weigh between 460 to 520 lbs. Both males and females have the spiral horns, which is unusual, but they begin growth before the young are weaned. Both subspecies are listed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, or the IUCN Red List, one with a status of "critically endangered". For more details, please see sites listed below.
