My vet says 12.5mg per 10lbs.
one tablet at the first time.Another tablet each time that it will defecate liquid diahrrea .
I am a registered Vet assistant, and have been working at a vet clinic for some time. WE give liquid and pill form benadryl quite often to dogs. The rule of thumb is 1mg per pound. For example: a 25lb dog can take 25mg of benadryl. I read on a veterinarian hospital page that you were NOT supposed to give the liquid form of benadryl to dogs.
Dogs and cats can't handle the same amount of human medication as humans can. Yes 1mg per pound with the dog, but this goes for pill version not liquid. Liquid has to go by the density of the liquid you are giving. I have a 55lb dog and liquid benadryl would be no more than 1/4tsp MAX for this size, and that's almost too much. The above is not accurate.. Standard dosage for dog is is 1 mg of benadryl per lb. There are 12.5mg of bendarly per 5 ml(teaspoon). Check with your vet first, but you can give 55lb dog 4tsp of liquid Children's benadryl. 1/4 tsp won't help.
Bendryl can help dogs suffering from skin problems, but you really need to contact your vet to get the correct dose for your dog. There are several different over the counter antihistamines besides Bendryl (Periactin, Tavist and Loratadine for example). Each has different active ingredients. If one doesn't seem to help your dog, another brand could be more effective. Again, you'd need to get the correct dosing from your vet. Though an antihistamine may help your dog feel better and reduce itching, it's just treating the itchy symptom, and not doing anything to stop the problem. Your best bet for treating your dog is to have your vet examine your dog to find the cause of the itch!
As much are your vet tells you to or how much its says for your dog on the back
Monster is not healthy to give to a dog. It has too much caffeine.
A dog should be give only regular strength Benadryl. For a small dog, it' probably easier to give it the liquid children's formula. The standard dose is one milligram for every pound given twice daily. So for your 14 pound dog, give 12-14 milligrams, twice a day. (If the lesser dose works, all the better!)
Ibuprofen is highly toxic to dogs and cats.
Absolutely not. Ambien can kill a dog, and a small dog can be killed more quickly by it. Never give an animal a medicine meant for a human unless you have a prescription from a veterinarian specifically for that animal. You can give a dog BABY Benadryl, the liquid kind might work best. But remember that the dose must be MUCH lower for a dog than for a human, even an infant if the dog is a small dog. It is best to ask a veterinarian what exact dose to give the dog.
Hyper-ness!
for extreme pain, how much can I give him of Dexamethasone SP?
Yes you can! Shih-tzus are great dogs to travel on planes with. They can be put in a cage and brought aboard the plane like a carry-on bag. Most airlines only allow 3 dogs to be carried on per flight so call ahead and reserve your dog. My shih-tzu travels on the plane all the time. They are the perfect size and well behaved dogs. Just give the dog a little liquid bendryl before boarding the plane and he or she will be out of it for a few hours.
