A typical Pitbull can pull about 2 times its body weight. Despite their strength, they are not built to pull heavy loads like sled dogs.
Pulling a sled tends to lif the sled and decrease friction thus making less difficult. Pushing does the opposite.
I am not too sure. I would guess its because they have certain traits that help them pull sled in winter! Hope that helps a bit!
