The price of llamas differ depending on quality and whether or not it is registered. I have seen llamas sell for as low a $250 but they are typically unregistered or gelded males. If you are looking to purchase higher quality llamas that are registered, your prices usually start at $1,000 and go up considerably depending on bloodline and quality.

Tip: Usually you will get better prices if you buy at least two llamas.

Tip: Male llamas are typically much cheaper than female llamas because they have to be separated from the main herd to prevent unplanned breedings. This requires more pasture to keep them. Some male llamas do not get along with other male llamas, so that means more pasture again.

Tip: If you buy "unproven" males, you can pay a lot less. Unproven means that they have not won any awards in the show ring. The exception to this is if the male's herdsire (father) is proven and highly sought after in the market.
