Cavalier King Charles Spaniels used to have a really big problem with their hearts--it was called mitral valve prolapse, meaning that one of the valves within the heart would not work properly and not pump enough blood, so their lives were shortened. Responsible breeders have improved the problem by breeding together dogs with healthy hearts. Irresponsible breeders, like puppy mills, not so much. So it depends on the health of your individual dog's heart.
