Used to have a dog called Joe (Schnauzer mix, suited him very well!) Only reason I can think of against it is that it isn't brilliant for commands, since single syllable names can be a bit confusing when the dog is just beginning training. (i.e. sounds very similar to "sit" etc.) No real concern though.
