Only in that they are both mammals. The okapi are in the same family as the giraffe ("giraffidae"), in the order cetartiodactyla. The horse is in the order perissodactyla, family equidae. The okapi shape is similar to that of a giraffe but with a much shorter neck. Okapi, like giraffe, have very long tongues, which they use to strip and eat leaves and buds from trees.

Obviously horses are related to other wild equids such as zebras, but surprizingly they are also related to hippos and rhinos
Okapis are a mix of a horse and a zebra, but they probably wouldn't appreciate being called that at a party. They are actually the only living relative of the giraffe, so they have some serious family tree drama going on. So, next time you see an okapi, just remember they're not just a funky horse-zebra hybrid, they're part of the majestic giraffe clan.
