why not? it's hotter in the summer. why not make your dog more comforatable? we usually get our lab shaved in the summer along with our pointer spaniel mix (both considered short haired breeds). I've done it myself but it's easier and the outcome is prettier if u take it to a groomer. petsmarts usually offer grooming services
