It should be. In some places it is and some it isn't.
While whaling was banned by the International Whaling Commission in 1986, it is legal to kill whales for scientific purposes in some countries, such as Japan.
Killing whales is illegal.
No.
whales are endangered
Too long!
Whaling almost killed out the entire species so now whales are endangered so whaling is illegal and those who do it are poaching. I wouldn't suggest doing it.
They run the illegal whaling going on in the south Pacific.
Until the late 20th Century it was but due to the 1986 Commercial Whaling ban, only a few countries are still Whaling, which makes what their activities illegal despite claiming that they are doing it for cultural or scientific purposes, which is in general aloud as a loophole in the commercial whaling ban.
While whaling for certain industries is bad. i.e. ones that don't use all parts of the whale. are horrible there are parts of the world that still depend on whaling for food and supplies. Making whaling illegal would cause huge damage to their culture and their ability to maintain themselves.
Yes, the Japanese still do some whaling . . . it is one of their basic foods.
People go against whaling so much because people ,like the Japanese, are killing the whales and that populations are starting to go down even more every time someone is whaling!
I have no clue, but did you know that whales, manatees, etc. are covered in blubber that help them survive?:) ^^^But whaling is illegal.
