Lime isn't okay to use in a dog kennel because it is poisonous all animals
My dog did not enjoy staying at your kennel.
No. You shouldn't.
When your dog whines when you put him straight in his kennel it means that he doesn't want to go in there, that he wants to come out and play or something. But if it's been a while since you've put your dog in his kennel it means he misses you or he needs to go use the bathroom.
When choosing a dog kennel with a roof for outdoor use, consider features like sturdy construction, weather resistance, proper ventilation, adequate size for your dog, and security measures such as locks.
The type of wood i would use is a cedar
Lime is not poisonous ,or toxic when in contact with skin , unless the dog licks it's feet, and ingests it . Lime is however caustic when wet , and can cause burns , or at least irritation. The best thing to do if you notice your dog has stepped in lime is to wash the feet immediately in lots of water , use a water bottle , or a puddle , but use your fingers to help spread the toes to remove all traces of the lime.
If a dog doesn't like their kennel, it is most likely uncomfortable. Try putting their favorite toy or dog bed in there. If that does not work, then use treats, and hide them under a towel in the kennel, they will want to find the treats, and won't even notice that you are gone. Never put a kennel by the window, dogs will sleep if they are in dark places.

Metal roofing materials such as galvanized steel or aluminum are the best options for a durable and weather-resistant dog kennel roof. They are strong, long-lasting, and can withstand various weather conditions.
