That is a trick question as if I remember correctly the Monkey , at least in the Disney film version, died as part of the plot. the death of a pet is a common crying-jag generator in cinema and is a stupid plot device. it was not clear how the ape expired, he had an act firing a revolver ( presumably loaded with blanks) he may have accidentally ( or some carnival hand might have deliberately loaded the gun with live ammo as a cruel practical joke) shot himself. exactly how the monkey died was not specified but it was part of the plot. That was it, the Kid was through with the big top.
