It is nonsense. Most reported cases the victim has been very over weight, smokes constantly, alcoholic, wore clothes that have been out of style since the early 20th century that were highly flammable. It is believed they fell asleep smoking, dropped their smoke, which caught their clothes on fire, being drunk they did not wake up, the fire melted body fat which wicked into the clothes, causing the "candle effect".
Reporting on the conditions of these fires has also tended to be inaccurate and sensational.
