The Przewalski horse, a wild horse native to the steppes of central Asia, was declared extinct in the wild in 1969 due to habitat loss, hunting, and competition with domestic livestock. However, it survived in captivity, and conservation efforts led to successful breeding programs. In the 1990s, these efforts resulted in the reintroduction of Przewalski horses into their native habitats, and they are now considered critically endangered but no longer extinct in the wild.
The Asian Wild Horse, also known as the Przewalski Horse, is endangered, but NOT extinct. It lives in Mongolian Mountains. It was being hunted for it's coat but is now protected by law.

Saving the Przewalski's horse, a critically endangered species, is vital for biodiversity conservation and ecosystem health. As a unique subspecies of wild horse, its preservation helps maintain genetic diversity and serves as a living example of successful conservation efforts. Furthermore, protecting this species can enhance ecological balance by supporting the habitats they occupy, which can benefit other flora and fauna. Additionally, conserving the Przewalski's horse promotes awareness and education about wildlife preservation and the importance of protecting endangered species.
