The majority of the Western Lowland Gorilla's diet is fruit, whereas the Mountain gorilla's diet is only 2% fruit. Because of the high altitude in the mountains, fruit is not readily available. All the gorillas supplement their vegetarian diet with caterpillars, termites, ants, snails, or grubs as available.
