Otzi was first discovered by two German Tourists, Helmut and Erika Simon. they immediately reported the body to the local Authorities. The police fearing it to be a recent homocide victim attempted to release the body with a pic axe and power chisel but failed. only to release a copper axe. During the process Otzi suffered a broken hip-bone and a badly damaged right leg. it was alaso thought he suffered numerous other cuts and bone breakages but these were later diagnosed as injuries before Otzies death.
