It really depends on what you classify as "doglike" characteristics (e.g. loyalty, devotion, playing fetch, etc.) as opposed to common (mis)conceptions regarding cats (aloofness, arrogance, etc.).
Cat personalities differ widely between breeds, and also inevitably between different cats of the same breed. Factors such as their upbringing and social exposure as a kitten will influence their personalities. From experience I can confirm that Burmese cats in particular exhibit some of the "doglike" qualities mentioned above.
We have two Burmese cats in our family - they have always been strictly indoor cats - and their disposition is very much devotional. They always like to be involved in whatever we're doing; following us around the house, sitting with us in front of the TV, creeping into our bed at night, etc. They really convey the feeling that our coming home and spending time with them is their favourite part of the day. One of our cats also plays fetch with her favourite toys (pairs of pipecleaner twisted together and wrapped into a springy coil). She will bring it to us, drop it near our feet, chase it when we throw it, and bring it back again!
A dog's relative(s) are/is a wolf or fox, but foxes act like cats do.

Foxes behave like dogs as foxes belong to the dog family.
