You should try avoiding hadling the baby mice in the first few days or so. If you absolutely have to pick them up for their safety ect. then cup them in your hands gently. The mother can get stressed if you try to handle them to early and possibly kill the litter. Around day 5 is a good time to start handling the litter unless the mother is uncomfortable with you being around the babies.
