Hi, I have an English Springer Spaniel and honestly when your able to bring him home you should start walking him. You need to teach him/her to walk on a leash at a young age.
Try little and often when they are under six months old (too much walking can damage their developing bones) so make sure they get plenty of rest in between. Try to also involve obedience training on each walk.
Check out the springer spaniel exercise link attached below for exercise ideas at different ages
Springer spaniel bitches usually have their first season (heat cycle) between 6-12 months of age, but this may vary slightly from dog to dog.
1year
My springer spaniel was in heat for about 6 weeks in total last January. Other dog owners have told me that that is an exceptionally long time, so may be a one off unusual case. However, the vet told me that's about right.
As soon as it looks fluffy or too fluffy about once every 3 to 4 months
The average age of a cocker spaniel is around 12 to 15 years.
After 9 minths if age, any breed of dog is typically considered an adult
A springer spaniel's nose may be half pink and half brown due to a condition known as "dudley nose," where pigment in the nose is unevenly distributed, often influenced by genetics. This coloration can also result from variations in pigmentation due to age, skin conditions, or exposure to the sun. Some dogs may have a naturally occurring two-tone nose as part of their breed characteristics. If there are any changes or concerns, it's best to consult a veterinarian.
You should breed a stallion at the age of 5.
A Springer Spaniel may leak urine due to several reasons, including urinary tract infections, bladder stones, or incontinence related to age or hormonal changes. Behavioral issues, such as anxiety or excitement, can also lead to urinary leakage. It's essential to consult a veterinarian for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan to address the underlying cause.
The heaviest males weigh around 33lbs. my pure breed weighs around 70lbs.
Spaniels typically reach their full adult size and maturity between 1 to 2 years of age, depending on the specific breed. Smaller breeds, like the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, tend to mature faster, while larger breeds, such as the English Springer Spaniel, may take longer. It's important to note that full emotional and behavioral maturity may take a bit longer, often extending into the 2-3 year range. Regular exercise and proper training during this period are crucial for their development.
it depends on the breed if it is a heritage breed it should be around a year if its a commercial production breed it should be no more than 4 months old.
