Your dog's eyes don't just automatically need fixing at any age unless there is a problem with them. I suspect in the breed Shar Pei that it is probably entropian, where the eyelids roll in and the eyelashes rub against the eyes. This is dangerous & painful for the eye as it could cause an ulcer. If the ulcer is left undetected then it can cause blindness. You need to take your dog (if you have not already) into your Veterinarian and have the eyes carefully checked. If there is a problem then surgery needs to be done immediately. There are other temporary fixes such as "tacking" (where the Vet puts a stitch in the eyelid to hold it more open), hopefully to correct the situation but it doesn't work too often & at best is only a temporary thing. The best thing is to have surgery done where the Vet removes the part of the eyelid that has the lashes rubbing on the eye. This is genetic so this animal should not be bred and cannot be shown in an AKC show. Have the animal neutered or spayed at the same time if old enough. But it is up to your Vet as to what he or she wants to do.

There are three distinct types of Shar-peis in terms of their coats, and each varies in the amount of shedding they do, however overall compared to many other breeds of dog, Shar-peis are considered particularly light shedders.
Yes if they sense danger. Otherwise they are a great family pet and very good in the home. Training should start early and you will find a happy, loving family pet.
