I have one I'll explain the story. One day my mom went to run to the store my dad went to work and me and my sister and her friend were all alone! I was looking out our back door when I noticed a cat with five tiny kittens sorounding her! I ran to the phone called my mom and she told me she'll be home in an hour wake up your sister. I ran up and shook my sister awake and her friend. Not one word we ran down as if hypnotized! We went outside and suddenly they scattered. Louren my sisters friend and I all tried to get them while my sister went to get food. I caught one between to poles. THat day we got two and took them to the williamson county where they got great homes. After five months we got our way to another which we took in too. Now we heard there was six and two disapeared but one kitten we kept and the mother but it took a while to capture

Manx, or stubbin, as they're called in the Manx language, are known for a genetic spinal mutation that causes the kittens to be born with a shortened tail. Because the gene is dominant, most kittens carry one copy of the gene and are born completely tail-less. Genetic double-dominance is usually fatal due to multiple developmental defects; these kittens are usually spontaneously aborted, or are born with a crippling condition similar to spina bifida. Kittens carrying double-recessive genes are typically born with at least a vestigial tail, which disqualifies them from being shown or bred.

Manx kittens are classified according to tail length:

* Dimple rumpy or rumpy: no tail * Riser or rumpy riser: very short stub, barely noticable * Stumpy: approximately the length of a man's thumb * Tailed or longy: normal, or near normal, length tail

Another notable trait is hind legs that are longer than forelegs, giving the cat's back a rounded, rabbity appearance. Manx also sport double coats because they originate from a cool climate.
