The white Siberian tiger is closely related to the Bengal tiger, as both belong to the same species, Panthera tigris. The white coloration is a genetic mutation that occurs in some Bengal tigers, and both types share similar habitats and behaviors. Despite their distinct appearances, they are part of the same subspecies and can interbreed.
Other tiger subspecies, of which five others are living today. However, the extinct Caspian tiger, recent evidence shows, was very closely related to the Siberian, and may have been an extant race of that subspecies.
