Rabbits live in a hierarchy where stronger more dominant rabbits are cared for by weaker ones. Rabbit burrows are normally situated on north face slopes of no more than 20 degrees and no less than 15. It is normally the weaker rabbits responsibility to find ideal sites for there warrens.

Most new buildings are built on land that has been flattened from an average of 15 to 20 degrees to allow easier access to the water table and facilitate land drainage. With sites like this dwindling, rabbits have been forced to compromise causing mass drownings during flash floods
