There are many skills for different riding levels. You may want to start with a walk, this is the easiest but don't get fooled, it does look easier then it is the try a sitting or posting trot. A trot is very bumpy and by doing a posting trot you can even out the bumps, a sitting tort is when you use your leg muscles to stay in the saddle and not bump up and down. Before you learn to canter perfect your sitting trot! When you do canter the horse is going in a smooth rocking motion. Once you have mastered the canter try jumps. Jumps come in all different shapes and sizes. There is brick walls and pole jumps. Then you are all set to gallop! ONce you've mastered all of these you should be an expert rider
