Since sea otters can spend their entire lives at sea without ever touching dry land, a sea otter can do many things while floating on its back in the ocean. These activities include breaking open crustaceans and urchins with a rock on its belly and then eating the seafood interior; feeding, grooming, and otherwise caring for its young; mating; grooming; and sleeping.
