I think there is more than 4.

These charactheristics only mammals have:

1. Only mammals(female) produce milk to feed their young. Milk is produced in the mammary glands, and it is from here mammals have gotten their name.

2. The lower jaw in mammals is a single bone on either side. In all other vertebrates there are more than one bone on each side of the jaw

3.The mammal middle ear, and only the mammal middle ear, contains 3 bones. The Stapes or (Stirrup), Incus or (Anvil) and the Malleus or (Hammer)

4.In mammals the main artery leaving the heart curves to the left becoming the aortic arch. In birds it curves to the right and in all other vertebrates there are more than one main artery leaving the heart.

5.Mammals have a diaphragm. A sheet of muscle and tendon that separates the body cavity into two sections. Heart and lungs before/above, liver, kidneys, stomach, intestines, etc, behind/below. No other animal has a diaphragm.

6.No other animal has hair in the same form as mammals, and all mammals have some hair at least at the beginning of their lives - baby whales and dolphins are born with a moustache.

And then there are several more than mammals share with other groups, like verterbrae and that mammals are warm blooded, and that mammals have lungs to breathe air
All mammals are warm blooded,

All mammals are air breathers

Mammals give live birth

Every mammal is a vertebrate.

How are mammals similar to humans?

We ARE mammals. Like all other mammals, humans are warmblooded vertebrates, have hair, give live birth, nourish babies with milk and spend sufficient time with our offspring before releasing them into the world.

What characteristics is common in all vertebrates?

There are many such features, including: 1. Mammals nourish their young with milk. 2. Mammals are warm-blooded. 3. Mammals have fur. 4. Mammals have a four-chambered heart. 5. Mammals are amniotes. 6. Mammals breathe oxygen. 7. Mammals have three middle ear bones and a neocortex. 8. Mammals have internal reproduction. Some of these characteristics are unique to mammals; others are found in some other vertebrates but not in all other vertebrates.

If one fourth of the mammals on Earth are bats what fraction of mammals are not bats?

If one fourth (1/4) of the mammals are bats, then the mammals that are not bats would be 3/4 of all mammals on Earth. Rationale: The whole is (all the mammals on Earth) = 4/4, 1/4 = bats 4/4 - 1/4 = 3/4 of the total mammals are not bats You could also calculate this in percentages. For example: The whole (all the mammals on Earth) = 100% 1/4 = bats 100 divided by 4 = 25 100% - 25% = 75% of the total mammals are not bats

In what five ways are mammals alike?

All mammals: 1. feed their young with milk 2. have some fur 3. have three middle ear bones 4. have a neocortex in the brain 5. are warm-blooded These are not the only common characteristics.

What are some characteristics of all creatures belonging to class mammalia?

Mammals have a number of characteristics that make them mammals. Firstly, they are chordate animals possessing vertebrae. But that take us down to all vertebrates; beyond that the mammalian features are 1. Females have mammary glands 2. Unique Sweat Glands (only mammals have) 3. Presence of Hair and/or Fur 4. Three middle ear bones 5. Presence of Neocortex in brain

How many chambers are in a koalas heart?

Why the bull belongs to the mammal group?

A mammal is defined by the following characteristics: 1. Mammals have fur. 2. Mammals feed their young with milk. 3. Mammals have a neocortex in the brain 4. Mammals have one fenestra (hole) in the skull below the squamosal and postorbital bones. 5. Mammals are warm-blooded. 6. Mammals have three middle ear bones. A bull fits all these descriptions. Therefore, it is a mammal.

What are the main characteristics that separate mammals from all other animals?

The 5 defining characteristics of a mammal are; mammillary glands(glands that make milk) , hair/fur, muscular diaphragm(muscle used to breath) , auditory obssicles(three ear bones) and denary (solid jaw and teeth) bird are hot blooded birds are not mammals nurse young birds nurse young not just from a teat P.S. I am a student studying zoology so I know that for a fact that is the 5 defining traits of mammals
