Harp Seals are very good swimmers and tend to like to be in the water more than on land. They can stay submerged for a total of 16 minutes. They swim in the waters of the North Atlantic and Arctic. For food, there's over 70 species of fish and 70 species of invertebrate's that Harp Seals enjoy. The Polar Cod, Arctic and Capelin being the most popular in their diet. When babies, their coats are the same colors as the snow. This helps them with their survival skills. For instance, if a polar bear comes, the baby can close it's eyes, scrunch into a ball like figure and blend in with the snow. The polar bear would walk right by. For breeding, both genders go to Newfoundland, the Greenland Sea and the White Sea. When arrived, males fight for ladies and after breeding season the ladies give birth to the little white pups on ice. The mother can recognize her pup by it's smell.
