The manatee doesn't really need to have a defense because it has no predators exept for humans and speedboats. They can't defend themselves against speedboats which is a major problem. That's one reason why their endangered. >>Manatees' only defense mechanism is to swim away. They can swim up to 20 miles per hour for short periods of time.
