Other threats for manatees include: Litter, ingestion of fish hooks, fishing line, getting entangled in crab traps and Loss of habitat. They are also at risk of getting crushed and/or drowning in canal locks.
The threat of manatees is really only damaging your "precious" motor boat... *shakes head in disgust* but the threats to manatees are motor boats, fishing nets, and careless polluting people.
They get killed for their flesh for oil lamps. Manatees also get killed by the carelessness of humans speeding on their motor boats and accidentally hitting the manatees! Also, there is a disease called the Red Disease and that kills many manatees also!
There are no natural enemies of the manatee for they do not share waters with sharks. One of the unnatural enemies are motor boats!
Motor boats were invented in 1907.
Well... yes, pretty much. Besides in size, (and motor boat scars) adult and baby manatees are pretty much indistinguishable.
Why do motor boats spit out water
buy one and BAM there you go you have the keys to motor boats
Three reasons that Manatees are endangered is mainly because their habitat(Beds of sea grass, Wetlands, Mangroves) is being destroyed or drained for human population, but also because of water's becoming polluted which poisons them and the food they eat. Also because motorboats that come in Manatee habitat can injure or kill Manatee's with their propellors.

Some manatees like to use their flippers to crawl on the sea floorSome manatees use their flippers to move/crawl around on the sea floor, others slowly glide at the surface using their tail as a motor.
The manatee is an essential part of the ecosystem. This large aquatic creature, nicknamed the sea cow, eats huge amounts of aquatic plants every day. Not only does this help to keep the plants from taking over and choking the waterways, the manatees also produce a great deal of dung that helps to fertilize the bottom of rivers, lakes, and canals.
I have never heard of people poaching manatees; mainly the problem is motor boats accidentally cutting them with their motors or people harassing them. If anyone were to poach them, I'd say it would be because they are endangered, and their skin would be very rare and probably valuable in the black market.
