There have probably been more than one (although they might be unofficial breeds), but the one breed that is most recognized as the "South American horse" would be the Paso Fino.
They were bred in England, Wales, Ireland... but I believe they officially came from England.
Different horse breeds came from all over the world. Some breed names are based on where the breed is from. Like Australian pony is from Australia. I don't know where all the breeds came from, but why don't you search it on Google, or find a book on horse breeds and find out where they come from

Palomino is a color and not a breed. Palomino's came into being when a cremello(Dilute color) horse bred with a chestnut colored horse, thus creating a palomino colored foal. The color was favored throughout the centuries and promoted by queens and kings.
A gelderland horse (gelderlander) isn't a cross... it is a breed in itself. It came from Holland, in a province called Gelderland
the pinto is an American horse like the mustang and palomino. im not to sure about when it came around but it might have been around the 1500s!! you might want to do some more research on that one
