For a "young and trendy" look use any of the bright or neon colours - pink, green, blue or even yellow. For a more subtle or sophisticated look use tans, wheat colours, browns and a touch of black (the colours of the African savanna). If you choose the latter, try adding in other animal prints or "African" fabrics, designs or accessories.
