Whales live in the oceans. They like the colder waters of the world, because there is a lot of food there, and there is less likely to be humans who want to hunt and kill them. There used to be a lot more whales, but, because of whaling, there are fewer of them.

This depends on what species of whale and what subspecies of that whale species is questioned. Some whales are known to live around the entire ocean but some can only cope in certain conditions. For example, the Antarctic Minke Whale can live in the Antarctic waters but only in that region where as the Fin Whale can live in both the northern and Southern Hemisphere but not around the equator regions of the world.
