It seems that the Pyrenean Mountain Dog referred to in the question is also from the Basque region but on the Spanish side and is more commonly referred to as the Pyrenean Mastiff so as to not confuse it with the Great Pyrenees to sum up each is a Basque region mountain dog one french and one spanish it would therefore be inaccurate to refer to either as the Pyrenean Mountain Dog because they are both mountain dogs from the Basque Pyrenees Mountains.
