No matter the reason, it's dangerous for rabbits to eat a lot of fur. Unlike cats, they can't vomit, so "fur balls" can actually be life-threatening. If your rabbit's been eating fur (including when the rabbit's moulting), really encourage fresh water and hay and sopping wet dark leafy greens, and exercise -- keep the digestive system moving. Some people also give the rabbit digestive enzymes around this time (like papaya enzyme tablets, or fresh papaya or pineapple). Be on the look out for GI stasis and going to the vet's.

Reasons for this behaviour:

It may be bored. For info about how to keep a rabbit entertained and satisfied, see the related questions below about playing and cages (and what goes in them).

It may be aggressive. Is it also attacking and fighting with the other rabbit? See the related question below about rabbits fighting, and separate them.

It may be pregnant or "false" pregnant, if it's an unaltered (un-spayed) female. When rabbits are pregnant, they pull fur to make nests for the babies. Females who aren't spayed will go through "false" pregnancies, where they behave as though they are pregnant. This can be very stressful for the rabbit and is one reason why many people recommend spaying them.

It may be sick. Sometimes rabbits take on odd behaviours when they're ill, before the serious symptoms become apparent. A good rule of thumb is if your rabbit changes any behaviour, no matter how minimal it seems, start paying extra-close attention to look for signs of illness or injury, and get ready to bring the rabbit to the vet.See the related questions below about illness and vets.

Young rabbits are bunnies, some species of wild rabbits are referred to as hares.Rabbits are often called "bunnies." The word "bunny" comes from the old word for "rabbit," which was "coney." Nowadays, rabbits are the grown-ups, kits are the babies, and "bunny" is just a nickname for rabbits.Hares are a related animal, but they are not the same as rabbits.

Can a rabbit heal another rabbit?

No, rabbits can't heal other rabbits. When a rabbit is sick or injured, it can be a great comfort and stress-reducer to be with his or her loved ones, but this alone will not heal the rabbit. Sick rabbits need to see the vet. See the related questions below for more info and helpful links.
