Launder your ferrets bedding means that it is usually a soft cloth material that needs to be washed regularly to keep odors down.
Febreze or any other fabric freshener it not recommended on your ferrets bedding, it could cause respiratory problems
Because of the ferrets natural instinct for burrowing, soft bedding material is recommended that they can get underneath or cover themselves for sleeping. Bedding you can purchase for ferrets are sleep sacks and they particularly like hammocks Bedding for ferrets - do not use wood chips, straw, etc. Ferrets like soft materials - you can use t-shirt type material, flannel type material - something that is easily laundered - it is suggested to launder bedding about twice a week to reduce ferret odors. Avoid bedding material with a loose weave - ferrets nails sometimes split when they get too long and tend to hang on loose threads (they need to be trimmed every 2- 3 weeks). I have read where ferrets nails have hung on threads with the owner unaware, and the ferret wrapped the thread around its leg cutting off circulation that resulted in amputation. Ferrets love to sleep in anything soft and warm such as cat beds, old clothes, blankets, towels etc. Avoid typical small animal bedding such as wood chips.
Ferrets require some type of soft bedding that they can burrow into as they sleep about 18 hours a day.
ferrets like to be comfortable, think about it you have a soft bed, so should they
At most pet stores or on the internet (ferret.com, ferret depot.com). Ferrets like bedding that is soft and they can burrow into. They like to sleep covered up. You can use material you already have like t-shirts, flannel material, etc. as long as it's a fine weave. Ferrets are prone having their nails hang and get caught on loose woven fabrics sometimes causing injuries. Do not use any wood chips (cedar, pine), it can cause respiratory problems in ferrets.

Hi, i honestly do not recommend laying soft bedding in a ferret cage, they sometimes like to chop on soft things and most of the softer bedding is chewy as well which if they swallow it they will most likely get it lodged in their intestine and need emergency surgery. Pine bedding works the best, they find comfort in almost anything. iv seen my ferrets sleep on top of a stack of CD`s! 100% Pine bedding Is what i recommend. _______________________________________________ Pine bedding is dangerous to ferrets. Period. A better option for litter would be recycled paper pellets such as Marshall or Yesterdays News. I use wood stove pellets. Blankets and hammocks are fine for them to sleep on.
Ferrets coloring doesn't have anything to do with size. A ferret's gender makes a difference as females are always smaller than males. Unaltered ferrets are generally larger than altered ferrets. Ferrets that are in colder climates are larger than ferrets in mild climates.
If your ferrets shreds her bed, try changing to another type of bedding. She may be doing it out of boredom and may need more time out of her cage
Ferrets do not yap. Ferrets can squeak, and ferrets can dook. Dooking usually means a happy ferret, squeaking or squealing can mean pain, fear, or all manner of things.
If you want to give your ferrets straw to play in once in a while, that shouldn't be a problem. However, do not give them straw as bedding material. It can cause respiratory problems in the long run. Instead give them some old towels or clothes to sleep in. It's cheap (free even), easy to keep clean and my ferrets love nothing more than to snuggle in them.
No. Ferrets are not related at all to rats. Rats are rodents, ferrets are related to skunks, polecats, otters, and weasels. Ferrets are more like the responsibility of a cat or dog, as they are very very social and need attention at all times. Please if you are getting a ferret, DO NOT put wood shavings or newspaper as their bedding. They need soft blankets, hammocks, and even old t-shirts would work. The shavings cause problems with their lungs, and is really bad for them!!
