Skunks are Musteloidea a type of carnivorous mammal that look (and smell) somewhat like weasels and their relatives but actually are distantly related to seals. A de-scented pet skunk should be fed only what the a veterinarian recommends. In the wild they are opportunistic omnivores and eat a wide range of foods including insects and their larva, earthworms, grubs, rodents, lizards, frogs, snakes, small birds and mammals. Plants are also on their diet, they eat berries, roots, leaves, grass and nuts. The vet will probably recommend one of many pet skunk commercial foods which replicate their wild diet and will be able to tell you where to buy the commercial mixes.
