Rottweilers get their name from a farming area in Germany named Rottweil, meaning 'Red Tile'. In the times when romans lived in the region, they used these red tiles to roof their bath houses & buildings. Later in history the town of Rottweil became busy & prosperous and the farmers & butchers used dogs to help with livestock and carry their money bags. They started selectively breeding these 'butcher's dogs' and called them Rottweilers. The name is still with them today.
